Keeping the Promise for All Students: How School Boards Can Ensure Student Success
through Educational Equity

Janet Tilley and MSBA’s Leadership Development department have researched educational equity across the nation and in Missouri, particularly in the area of equitable access to effective educators for all students. Their research has led to the identification of strategies for boards and superintendents for examining board policies, along with district procedures and data, to ensure educational equity for their students. Janet recently shared this research at the National School Board Association’s 2018 Annual Conference. As a result, school districts as far as North Carolina have asked Janet to consult with them in the development of their district equity plans.
Now, she’ll share these governance strategies, the five research-proven attributes of effective educators
and the research on the positive impact of having at least one teacher who shares the same race or
ethnicity on student success. Leave with strategies to support educational equity for your students at home.
